send vs. take

I sent him a letter.

彼に手紙を送った。

I sent her an email.

彼女にメールを送った。

I sent him a package.

彼に荷物を送った。

いずれも、私自身が商品を届けたわけではない。

誰かにお金を払ったのだ。

したがって、I sent my mother to the airport

「母を空港に送った」というのは、

誰かにお金を払って頼んだということだ。

これは少し冷たい。

自分でやるなら、

I took my mother to the airportと言うべきだろう。
